Family Devotions for the Feast of the Holy Family

Almighty and Eternal God, your fatherly tenderness never ceases to provide for our needs. We ask you to bestow on this our family the riches of your blessing. With the gift of your grace sanctify our family so that, faithful to your commandments, we will care for each other, give example to the world by our lives, and reach the home you have prepared for us in heaven. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

In the presence of the family members the father and mother reaffirm their marriage vows. The husband renews his marriage vows first, then the wife.

I _______ renew my promises of marriage. I will continue to be true to you, __________, my wife, in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life.

I _______ renew my promises of marriage. I will continue to be true to you, __________, my husband, in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life.

Mother and Father say the prayer together.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for our marriage. We thank you for the children you have given to us in love. We ask you to continue to bless our life together with gifts of peace and joy. We make our prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Father and Mother now offer these prayers for their children present.

Lord Jesus Christ, you lovingly embraced the little children and bade them come to you, for such as these belongs to the kingdom of Heaven. Bless our children; may they grow in wisdom and knowledge of you. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, you tell us that each child has an angel in heaven who beholds the face of your Father. Through the prayers of these Guardian Angels, protect our children from all harm and deliver them from evil and the temptations of the devil. May they grow in peace and joy. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, you gave to each of us our Holy Mother Mary to be a mother ever ready to come to our aid. May her prayers for our children help them grow strong in virtue and aid them in danger, sickness and sadness. Amen.

Together the entire family recites the Our Father.

Our Father…

In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
