The Feast of Christ the King (2013)

christ-the-kingToday is the last Sunday of the liturgical year–The Feast of Christ, King of the Universe. In the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite today is celebrated the Last Sunday after Pentecost, Our Lord speaks of the end of time, of the need to beware of false Christs and false prophets, of the “abomination of desolation” and the times of tribulation. Indeed, both forms of the Roman Rite call to mind that we will stand before our Judge and King at our particular judgment and then at the Final Judgment–where all will be laid bare. Will he find any faith, when he returns?

This is also the close of the Year of Faith. Let us unite once again with the Holy Father, our visible sign of the faith of the Church. For you, here is the Holy Father’s Mass for Christ the King and the close of the Year of Faith:
