  • Thank the USCCB for this mess. They’re still advocating for free stuff regardless of consequences like this.

    • I may be mistaken, but I would think that the USCCB falls under the definitions set out in the HHS Mandate that provide a complete exemption form the contraceptive mandate. “Churches” as defined in the strictest sense are exempt. I think the point was obvious: the administration did not want to have the public outcry of churches per se having to provide these things. At the same time, the government is saying that the rest of us must do what the government says, whether you believe the same thing as the church or not.

Essentially, they are saying you, me, and EWTN aren’t allowed to believe and practice what our own church teaches.

  • Yes, John B. Manos, the government is violating our religious liberty. And our Bishops were advised this would happen. They still advocated and still advocate for free health care from the government regardless of the control over our lives that cedes to government. Government under our Constitution has no authority to define religion or religious institutions. Our church run schools, media, hospitals, etc. aren’t exempt. DHHS Sec has ability to redefine reality under the mandate. That’s why the USCCB, EWTN, etc. are suing the government. So, the Bishops got what they asked for, free stuff, but don’t like the price they have to pay, losing their soul. Seems Biblical.
