How churches, hymns, and liars lie today – BFP 004

Show Notes

In this episode of the Bellarmine Forum podcast, John B. Manos discusses with you the two standards in today’s context:

On one side, God is a Person (the Triune Person) – a living person who has thoughts, loves you, and became man.

On the other side, God is a mere idea, a concept.

Manos applies Fr. Hardon’s Neopaganism and looks for a new name for this trend of people who worship themselves and make God a mere concept (a lie).

Take an odyssey of discussion through the landscape today where Manos shows that the 12 million dollar church being built in Las Vegas reveals that it is inspired by the concept of evolution and that there is no person being worshipped in the forms of that Church.  He compares this to traditional churches which reveal immediately that God is a person and we worship Him.

Darren, long time fan of the Forum, can rejoice that more on the idea of Fatima and what our Lady was warning of is discussed in the context of these modern errors we see around us.

And, adding to the odyssey, Manos reveals the source of bad Church music in Omer Westendorf, the Cincinnati native that started this mess with the World Liturgy (WLP) and making “hymns” such as Gift as Finest Wheat.  Link to the obituary mentioned.  He also published the People’s Hymn Book — peoples’…  do you understand now, comrade?

Which side are you on?

Hi John. Your hope of my listening to the talk was not in vain. I plan on listening to it again.

The talk reminded me of GK Chesterton’s Father Brown story “The Eye of Apollo” where Father Brown says that “the sun god was the cruelest of the gods”. Good story.

I happen to live in the Cincinnati area. A couple of churches have been traditionally built in the shape of the cross with the tabernacle in the middle behind the altar. So, that’s a good start. Pray to end guitars, drums and the unholy trinity of Haegen, Haas and Schutte. At least there are no drums at the church I go to but the music. God grant me patience and charity when I listen to that swill on the piano. Sometimes I feel that I’m in an elevator and about to fall asleep. Who needs a sedative when mass sometimes will do the job. I still can’t believe churches play songs from a guy that renounced his priesthood. I believe in second chances but only if you repent and believe in Church teaching.

I can’t stand the song “God is live and all who live in love, live in God”. That’s theological incorrect. Can one be in love of oneself and live in God? Only if they are God. If they are. I’m an atheist. What the heck does “live in love” mean? Let’s all sway to the music.

    St Cecilia, pray for us.

      Awesome! Thanks be to God!

I still have to tie in the population control and food issues — surprisingly (or maybe not), George Bush Sr. plays a pivotal role in all of that connection. I will cover that end of the mess in a future podcast. (a near future one, not three years from now… LOL).

Cincinnati (named after the first man of Rome) is Rome’s sister city… set on the seven hills and on the river. The cathedral is an unfortunately named omen of its role in the church: St. Peter in Chains. So many AmChurch issues originated right there in Cincinnati… alter girls, ICEL, bad hymns, women vocation directors of seminaries, and on and on…

The Land of Lakes agreement (for which Charlie Rice explained so well as the downfall of Notre Dame in his What Happened to Notre Dame (review here) has ties right back to a group of people and a parish on the east side. So even that mess had roots emanating from Cincy.

Speaking of music by priests who left… Surely you know Matthew Fox, the ex-Domninican… he’s perhaps the poster boy of a front line useful idiot in the new age front. He was blatantly advancing Alice Bailey’s agenda listed in her “Externalization of the hierarchy”, with his so-called creation theology. Perhaps the tip of his spear is a need to worship the earth. he has a bunch of other foolish fantasyland concepts as well.

I cannot stand that song where the people sing “I am the bread of life”… no they aren’t. I can’t sing those lyrics. I’m no bread of life. I’m not God.

  • Darren says:

John, good morning. Did not know about Matthew Fox. With all the other stuff, I probably don’t want more “garbage knowledge” in my head. My wife tells me “where is the Christian joy”? If I think about those yahoos too much, I just get depressed. And despair … well, I know you understand the Catholic faith on what she teaches there.

Hah. “Altar girls”. I’ve read about that. I called my parish priest about my boy becoming an Altar Boy. I refused to call it altar server. I’ll just keep praying because focusing on the Lord makes me have mirth and smile when I see infractions because I think, “How I was once blind”. If I pulled out of blindness, so then can our bishops.

St John Vianney, pray for our priest and bishops.
