Aside: Mueller Story Distracting from the Police Raids?

Photo by Internet Archive Book Images

Sometimes you just wonder something and keep the idea to yourself. Then, when someone else mentions it, you begin to think…  “hmmm…  I might not be alone in thinking that.”

It’s human nature… we follow the latest sensational thing. Some call it the “watch the ball” sleight of hand politicians use. If a scandal erupts, do something outrageous. People talk about the outrageous thing and forget about the scandal.

CAUTION:  I have no conclusions…  I’m just talking aloud here.

That’s what happened when I saw this Cardinal Müller (Mueller) story erupt and take over (as in dominate all discussion) Vatican topics recently. The story is egregious (if true) but it has all the elements of a Latin American TV novella, too. Same thing with the Gluten free story.

Then, I saw a priest friend ask the same thing. He asked whether the gluten story was a distraction from the police raid of the debauchery.

I had also wondered if the story about the proper matter for Holy Communion that mentioned GMO and gluten (both hot topics that will get attention) as well as the elaborate novella of the Mueller treatment is just that…

follow the ball! pick a card…  you name the magic trick, but it’s definitely a show.

Meanwhile, has anyone noticed that the other scandal went pretty silent?

I don’t know the answer, but maybe you have an opinion on this, too? Let me know! Was the Mueller thing trumped up in order to make a distraction worthy of silencing the earlier scandalous news?
