The Fourth Sunday of Advent

It is our pleasure to provide our readers prayers for the Fourth Sunday of Advent. Not only are these prayers appropriate for the lighting of the final candle of the Advent Wreath, they are appropriate as part of the mealtime or evening prayers throughout this week until Christmas. We hope these are providing some spiritual sustenance for your Advent.–The Board of Directors

Prayers for the Fourth Sunday of Advent

A. The Lord our coming King, hasten to adore Him.

L. Lord Jesus, in the mystery of your Incarnation, you revealed your glory to the world.

A. Give us new life by your coming.

L. You have taken our weakness upon yourself.

A. Grant us your mercy.

L. You redeemed the world from sin by your first coming in humility.

A. Free us from all guilt when you come again in glory.

L. You sit at the right hand of the Father.

A. Gladden the souls of the dead with your light.

L. Let us pray. Grant us, O Lord, that the approaching feast of your birth may fill us with peace and life and may unite us with You and our fellowman in the bond of charity. We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

A. Amen.

The fourth candle is lit. The West Candle–representing the region of darkness and the setting sun; Jesus, the Light of the world, overcomes all darkness.
