Pope Leo – A Clarification

Robert Francis Prevost did not become an American Pope, he became the first Pope from the United States of America. Just as Pope John Paul was from Poland and Pope Francis from Argentina, the place from whence these men came is irrelevant. Prevost is now the Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church; he is now head of the universal Church, no country can own him, no country can contain him. His children span every inch of the globe.

The biggest danger in all this hullabaloo about the “American Pope” is the underlying idea an American Pope means an American way of running the Catholic Church, a sort of you’ll do it our way approach, maybe even a no more rules or regulations way of life. You could see this in the giddy news reports, references to the election and inauguration of the Pontiff. Yes! Finally! One of us! Just like our elections here! Note: the hand of God was left out of it all.

One talk show host worried about Pope Leo’s comment over a decade ago that there are two genders. What will that mean for the LGBQT+ community, she worried. Others speculated (hopefully) that he might get after President Trump. An article to which Cardinal Prevost contributed months ago had a critical mention of J.D. Vance’s interpretation of a theological point. The criticism was allegedly reposted online after the papal election. The implication was that Pope Leo reposted it, and there was no doubt it was publicized to detract from Vance. However, exact quotations and dates were not apparent in thenew online story. There was a note that the online news source was reaching out to the Vatican to see if the Holy Father had actually reposted his words.

I ask, in the whole of creation, in a world in turmoil, does a new Pope have time to go on X and repost such things?

He likes the White Sox, we’re told; does he like the Bears? He’s a Chicago boy! Mayor Pritzker was delighted. Let’s not forget Chicago (Century City) was a center of evil in Malachi Martin’s book, Windswept House. Let’s not forget that the Augustinian missionary, Robert Prevost, has been absent from Chicago for decades, from America, while serving AlmightyGod as a missionary to His people. Every one of the talking heads seems to have no clue that Pope Leo XIV belongs to theworld now. He has a global view and sees beyond both the Atlantic and Pacific. His eyes must see mankind’s quest for eternity and his job in bringing man and God together.

May God turn off the noise and let him be what he has been called to be.
