Greece Slams Turkey’s Attempts to make Hagia Sophia into a Mosque.
The Hagia Sophia is the crown jewel of Byzantium. Emperor Justinian, upon entering it and beholding the finished Church is said to have exclaimed, “I have outdone thee, Solomon!”
Today, the Church is a museum, but recent years saw some tolerance (any leeway seems to have been caused by the pressure of Pope Benedict) by the Turkish government. But now that Turkey’s aspirations are nearly realized and likely as a way to see what they can get away with in the absence of Pope Benedict, Turkey is calling for it to be returned to a mosque. (Another report here).
The Greeks are reacting by calling for a modern OXI day:

The Island of Rhodes, where the icon was weeping, isn’t very far away.
The backdrop of tension behind all of this does appear to be a perception and belief by people in the region that Turkey is actively engaged in reassembling a modern Caliphate. Belloc, of course, predicted that the rise of complex global laws and usurious practices and taxes would make this day appealing to the commoner. Given the financial fraud that has been wrought upon Greece and the resulting destruction of ordinary people, Greece does appear to be put into a place where the financial stabilization possibly offered by a caliphate might be tempting. For instance, in the news today is the story of a Greek man willing to sell his kidney for money, just to provide for his children (also see our recent guest article on organ harvesting).

Justinian builds a a church of indescribable beauty and reverence and what did the dud muslims do when they take over Constantinople? Cover up all the beautiful artwork and desecrated the holy relics. these are the fruits of muslim imperialism. Look at all the once Christian lands of the Near East and North Africa these frauds took by force and they want the world to pander to the palenstinian for rights in Israel.
