Magazine: In Defense of the Family. Spring 2015, Vol. V No. 1

Just in time for some of the most hostile changes afoot, our latest issue is the first entry in Volume V, which we have dedicated to defense of the family as the Church teaches. We even managed, with the help of Providence, to print the advice of our late Chairman Emeritus, Charlie Rice on defending the Catholic Faith in a hostile culture. Ripe advice for those wondering how to respond to the same sex “marriage” ruling of the Supreme Court. Don’t be afraid to proclaim the truth and God’s revelation!

In Defense of Marriage and the Family…

bf-magazine-in defense of family cover smWhy does marriage as we know it — and the Church teaches it — need to be defended? Can it be that the Ancient Serpent to which John DeJak refers in the Introduction to this magazine has so confused mankind that right is wrong, wrong is right, a boy can be a girl, and it is okay to have two mommies or two daddies to make a family, without reference to the sacred union (physically impossible in such cases) which creates mothers and fathers?

Is it a family one day because a man generates a child with a woman, but not the next when she is abandoned by him? What of all the other children so conceived, brothers and sisters
by genetics but hardly a family without an investment of love and caring by those adults who created them? The sexual union once part of the covenant of marriage for the sake of the family is now a fruitless pastime for the bored and uncommitted, and the definition of marriage has become so distorted as to accommodate same sex and other base “unions.”

What hope is there for the future?

Against this turmoil, the Catholic Church has always held out the truth of her teachings on marriage and the family and she urges us continually to keep the Faith and remain steadfast against the prevailing winds of change and evil around us. We are to live as examples of God’s Plan, for as Pope St. John Paul said, “The future of humanity passes by way of the family.” There is a lot at stake in these troubled times.
