Pope Francis’s 44th Anniversary

Pope Francis was ordained on 13 December 1969. Even though there is a lot of talk about today being the third Friday the 13th this year (2013), it marks his 44th anniversary as a priest, and his ninth month as Pope – recall he became Pope on 13 March 2013.

It is also associated with Our Lady.The number thirteen is also associated with Saint Anthony of Padua, since his feast day falls on June 13. A traditional devotion called the Thirteen Tuesdays of St. Anthony involves praying for the saint every Tuesday over a period of thirteen weeks. Another devotion, St. Anthony’s Chaplet, consists of thirteen decades of three beads each.
